What kind of child would come out of this parenting environment?

Michael H. asked:

He’s an only child who feels connected to his dad. Though his parents are quite stiff. His mom doesn’t really talk very much and his dad talks a bit. Both parents lack self-esteem and confidence, but seem to be authoritarian. The child isn’t given any chores to do, but is expected to do exceptionally well on school work. The child is hardly ever complemented on the work he does, and is instead pointed out on the flaws of his work. His family is Catholic.

Do you think parents should take mandatory parenting class if their child is extremely overweight?

Espeically having to deal with exercise and proper diet. Come on it’s disgusting when you see a mom who’s sorry for the metaphor but as big as a blimp and the child is the same way! It’s horrible! Also, in middle schools such as in Oregon schools should be required too have PE everyday!
The reason why I say mom is because usually when I see kids it’s when they are with their mom’s whether it’s at a grocery store parking lot or a mall. Whether both parents are big or one is skinny the other is big they need parenting classes. It’s not good to have a 5 year old who’s 150 pounds.
