You wording is a bit off I think. You have stated that you want to blame high gun violence as the reason for poor parenting. I think you meant to say that poor parenting is the cause of high gun violence.

It is not that simple, but parents need to teach their kids respect for human life. That is very difficult when we legally murder tens of thousands of unborn babies every month in this country and say that's okay to do,and some states are now forcing doctors to do assisted suicide.

While I whole heartedly agree that more gun law will not positively affect the gun crime rate, (a study by the Center for Disease Control failed to conclude that any gun laws have a positive impact on crime), there is more to it than just parenting. Some parents can do all the right things and their kids still turn out bad.

To make a long story short, the taking of a human life is simply acceptable in some circles today. I'm mostly talking about gangs and drug dealers here but those kids who entered into this lifestyle didn't suddenly decide that killing is okay the day the joined a gang or got involved in drugs.

The moral fiber of children is determined at an early age. So parents must take the responsibility. The must make sure that their kids realize that there are consequences for their action and to break the rules means you are going to be punished. But alas, far too many parents can't be bothered with disciplining their children and teaching them respect for authority and human life.

I guess you could say that, If parents have guns in the house, it is their responsibility as legal guardians to keep their guns locked away from children and to teach their children about gun safety.
If children learn that guns are dangerous and how to exercise gun safety then, it is likely that they will exercise proper safety as adults. The media isn't to blame because parents can somewhat control what movies or video games their child is allowed to enjoy: two forms of media often blamed for gun violence. For example, drinking is glamorized by the media however, when parents have discussions with their children about alcohol abuse and lead by example with good drinking habits, children are much less likely to become alcohol abusers.

You can't blame parents, if you don't give them the authority or tolls to fix their kids

You can't blame only poor parenting on high gun violence. Bad parents are accountable, but can't take all the blame for high gun violence.
