I’m going to try and see if I can see this perspective -

My first thought is no, seeing an unfit parent tends to make me look at my own parenting and make sure I’m not doing any of the things they are doing. As long as I’m not then I go on assured that I am not the same kind of parent they are. Furthermore, how someone else parents their child doesn’t affect my parenting as I am the one raising my kid, not some clown down the street.

The only way I can see some kind of justification is if someone used the “well, it makes us all look bad” routine but that doesn’t work because you can choose who you associate with. If you don’t want to hang around bad parents or a homosexual family then you don’t associate with them. I would never compare homosexuals to bad parents, but for the sake of argument…. and I see where you’re going. I’ve never understood how anyone else’s marriage affects mine anyway. I have never received a letter in the mail stating “Donny and Sue Baker got a redneck marriage license so now your marriage is a redneck marriage too. Enjoy and don’t forget to put some old appliances out on the front lawn!”

Absolutely, my daughters are very confused about our parenting style because of the child abuse, or problems in other families. (Sarcasm).

I have several gay friends and my daughters have grown up around them. They have a very good concept of the traditional family and other alternatives (many which predate and have lasted longer than our “tradition”).

You know how it is. If that ugly kid down the street has the same toy you do, your toy is no longer any good. So you have to go smash his toy so your toy is good again. Then you go make a law forbidding ugly kids from getting cool toys, so you don’t have to worry about any more ugly kids getting the same toy as you.

It’s hard dealing with toddlers, isn’t it?

It takes a village to raise a child.
If the people down the street are bad parents, there’s a reason for it. They need help. When I had my kids, I read every single book on parenting I could, and still, my best resource were my family, friends and neighbors.

I don’t give a damn about their sexual orientation.

I’ve always thought that other straight people would be more of a threat to my marriage than gay people. But hey, that’s just me.

I think you’re halfway to a more tolerant belief, the other half would be not assuming that a homosexual union is somehow lesser than a heterosexual one.
